Aquarius
In the previous article I introduced the reader to the beginnings of Philosophy and how this art came into being.
The creator of this term 'philosophy' Pythagoras was one of the greatest Initiates of many different Mystery Schools. With his strong educative foundation he started out his own Mystery school and for anyone to be able to accompany him as a disciple, they had to study Geometry, Music and Astronomy. Pythagoras considered the study of these as essential in order to gain a rational understanding of God, man, or Nature.
All thus Manly P. Hall:
‘The God of Pythagoras was the Monad. The Supreme mind distributed throughout all parts of the Universe. The Cause of all things, the intelligence and the power of all things. He further declared that the motion of God to be circular, the body of God to be composed of the substance light, and the nature of God to be composed of the substance of truth.’
The Pythagorean Monad was the ultimate source of wisdom, the ‘permanent’ atom. It was the teachings of Pythagoras that taught us the interplay between the Universe (Macrocosm) and man (Microcosm). Pythagoras regarded the sidereal bodies, the planets and stars as living forms. They were bodies that encased the soul, mind and the spirit. All of them different levels of consciousness that answered to the ‘One’, the Monad. These different influences were symbolised by the characteristics and abilities of the Gods and Goddesses of Myth.
This is where the Initiates separate themselves from the Ignorant masses. By giving the different vibratory levels of Consciousness a Form and Characteristics; it enabled the Initiate to monitor the different Astrological Influences of the many combined vibrations influencing the little cosmos; which is man.
As the majority of people were not capable to meet the required disciplines of the Mystery Schools, they remained ignorant of the true meaning behind the statues and paintings of the Gods and Goddesses. This resulted over time into Idolatry (The worship of images, animals and people). Hence the Occult Schools still refer to the none-occultists as the 'Ignorant' or 'Sleepers'.
For the mystery schools, these images were not a personification of the God or Goddess but they were seen as a ‘book’. One that gave insight into the many forms to how the One God was influencing and guiding man. Many of the statues, paintings etc. held a host of symbolism for the use of study. The art of this type of symbolism has been continued through Free Masonry. And only the initiate or Adept was able to recognise the true meaning of this Art. Art that is known as having integrated ‘Occult Blinds’. These are subjects I cannot digress into at this moment as it is a little complicated for putting this all into just one article.
However, this introduction will give some understanding to why I use myth to consider what Age we are residing in and what influence this has on humankind.
Pisces or Aquarius?
For understanding the age of Pisces we have to look into the myth of Aphrodite (Venus) and Eros (Cupid).
The Titan Typhon, a hundred headed Monster of the Underworld approached mount Olympus. All the Gods fled in terror and to escape Typhon they changed themselves into animals.
Zeus the ‘all father’ changed himself in to a Ram. Aphrodite and Eros jumped into the river Euphrates and changed into fish, swimming downstream.
The Ram (Aries) and the Fish (Pisces) are the beginning and the end of the Zodiac.
Aries is a Cardinal sign and Pisces is a mutable sign. Cardinal symbolises the element Fire and Mutable symbolises the element Water.
Therefore Aries a fire sign itself is Fire of Fire and Pisces being a water sign is Water of Water.
The cardinal Aries is the penetrating force or ‘sperm’ of God, the Father in its purest form.
Mutable Pisces is Water and the receiving womb of the Mother in its purest form.
The Zodiac therefore represents the path of ‘Spirit’ leading to a 'coming into Manifestation'.
Pisces being represented by the Goddess of Female Love and the God of Masculine love shows again the requirement of both sexes as a necessity to obtain Unity (Pisces is followed by the number One of the Zodiac which we now know is Aries. The dual sign of Pisces also represents the number II, which is the number of the Mother as where Aries represents the number I of the Father.)
Again we look to Pythagoras who was also the influencing factor to Qabalistic art ‘Gematria’ and the more familiar ‘Numerology’.
A simple sum: I + II= III.
Three is known as the Supernal Trinity.
The Father, the Mother and the Son or in the case of Mythology: Zeus (as the all father), Aphrodite and Eros (Aphrodite’s son).
One could argue that Zeus was not the Father of Eros but as explained in the beginning of this article, the Deities represented different traits of the ‘Monad’.
Ares (Mars), a son of Zeus was the father of Eros.
Another significant aspect of the choice of Gods turned into fish is that Eros or Cupid unlike Aphrodite (Venus) also had dominion over ‘Hades’, the Underworld.
For those that are familiar with the Qabalah, you can see the connection of Mars (Geburah – Strength or Power) and Venus (Netzach - Victory) creating together the ‘Sun’ (Tipareth - Beauty).
What we have established so far is that Aries represents the beginning and Pisces the end that in turn again gives birth to a new beginning. Together they represent the Supernal Trinity.
The Myth shows us that the two deities of love have gone ‘undercover’ to preserve their lives (or the vibration known as love). The means of escape they have chosen are fish, a cold blooded species that can only survive in water. Water a female aspect that marks the time of ‘gestation’. Symbolically Eros and Aphrodite jumped back into the womb of the Great Mother.
Within this disguise and hiding in the world of water, our material world has been deprived of the influence of their wide spectrum of love.
If we look into history, where can we find a ‘love’ that has gone into hiding? A love that has ‘died a spiritual death?’ (Another Occult explanation of residing in the womb – It symbolises a spiritual death in order to be born in the material world.)
Those that have followed my previous articles will find the answer there. ‘O my good God, the largest family feud’.
We all in one way or another are finding ourselves entangled in this 'Love gone wrong'. A love that started out with two sons of one father but different mothers. These two sons gave birth to two nations. The Jews and the Muslims.
There was one very intellectual man, who knew that the origin of this family feud could lead to disaster. In his teachings he has left a very clear and remarkable symbol: One fish.
Jesus symbolised one aspect of Pisces, One fish. It is the fish that represents Eros or Cupid (Beauty). All of them also represent the ‘son’ or the ‘sun’.
Although I have already quoted Jesus in a previous article on this family feud, let’s recall these words again for clarity:
(Matthew 24:22-3) As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."
Who are the great nations? And the ‘you will be hated for my name’s sake?
The true conflict is between Muslim and Jew. This conflict is still taking place and is the cause of war that involves many countries worldwide passively and actively.
However if we look at the percentage of both faiths Jewish and Muslim, we can see that there are only an average of 14 million Jews versus an average of 1.1 billion Muslims. The Muslims together are indeed a great nation, the key to understanding lies in the words: ‘my name’s sake’.
Those that follow politics know that the strength behind Israel is the USA. And it is through the USA that many other countries are reeled in on the side of the Jews. The Muslims are waging war against the Jews and the Christians.
There are 1.9 billion Christians. Here we have the two great nations that the last prophet was talking about.
Based on history, scriptures (mythological and biblical) and our present political climate, I would say that we are still residing in the Age of Pisces.
Does this mean that the end of this age will also be symbolised by the other fish? The fish represented by Aphrodite, the mother aspect?
Let’s look at the question that was asked by the disciples of Jesus:
As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?”
What will be the sign of your coming?
Have a look at Jesus his reply (see above quote). He gives an answer but about him returning at all. All he does is announce the signs of the close of the Age of Pisces.
Does this mean that the announcement of the end of the Age of Pisces may well have a female representative? The ‘Aphrodite?’ The second fish?
We know from the first article that an Astrological Age moves in reverse order. The next Age is therefore Aquarius. The Water sign Pisces, a highly Emotional Sign, will make place for a fixed sign. The representative of the Intellect, the Element Air of Air.
The water carrier, a mere human placed amongst the stars by the ‘All father Zeus’. The water carrier doesn’t differentiate between the Gods and Goddesses, he serves them all!
'The End' announced by Jesus, is not the end of the World but the end of the conflicts caused by ‘Love’ not being able to express itself freely. The war between two great nations that all believe in the same Monad. Aquarius brings us back into an Age of Reason.
Let’s hope that Aphrodite will come soon as she will show us that true love can only be achieved with the aid of the water bearer. He will pour out the water, he will help us to mentally control the emotions and aid us to differentiate and show us true love and release it and share it with everybody.
Based on the above speculations, I conclude that we are still residing in the Age of Pisces, that leaves us with a few options concerning the beginning of the Aquarian Age:
- According to Albert Amao Ph.D. it may start in 2012 based on the Mayan calendar.
- Vera Reid reckons that there is a transition period of an approximate 280 years between the two Ages. Reid also promoted the idea that some people will experience mental enlightenment in advance of others and therefore be recognized as the new leaders in the world.
- Many think that the Aquarian age started because of the technological progresses made during the industrial evolution as they see this as a mark of the ‘intellect’. However, based on the teachings of many ancient masters, we could exclude this line of thought. All the masters that have aided in the ‘translation’ of the Cosmic influences based it on the evolution of consciousness in combination with love and not the material expression of this. For them the ‘intellect’ is the key to true love.
Many of the examples shown as a sign of the Age of Aquarius having already started are truly showing the transition moments of the male fish going over into the female fish. Such as the equality of human rights etc.
Maybe the Esoteric Christian Tradition may have the greatest truth about the Age of Aquarius:

"The Age of Aquarius will bring to the majority of human beings the discovery, true living and real knowledge of the inner and deeper Christian teachings which the Christ spoke of in Matthew 13:11 and Luke 8:10. This age is regarded as an intermediary preparation toward the Christ in the etheric plane, the New Galilee: the "new heavens and a new earth" to come in a future not identified time. In the Aquarian age at hand it is expected a great spiritual Teacher to come ("is coming"), through the school which works as herald of this age, in order "to give the Christian Religion impetus in a new direction".
Well, they don’t give a timeframe... so
Aphrodite, where art thou?!
Fear for the Intellect? Yes certainly although it is easing off, maybe a sign of the 280 year transition period between the two ages? Being able to reason and being able to uncover untruths in all aspects be it religious, political etc. is still in many situations a very dangerous thing to do.
