Create, the Kindergarten way
So you made that leap across that chasm of fear and uncertainty. You find yourself in this new place now.
A new job. A new city. New relationship or.....just this decision you arrived in your head.
All equally important event, for the value it brought to that individual.
First there was this rejoicing. Of finally making the leap. And landing safely.
The rejoicing, coming from finally..landing in this
new place. A place, until then, that was starting to feel like an old wives tale of some mythological place.
Everyone seems to extoll its virtues but no one
seems to have actually been there.
Self Doubts
After that rejoicing and perhaps relief, some of us are being invaded by doubts.
Did I make the right decision? Was I hasty? Am I actually worse off here?
The list of questions go on.
What was an occasional feeble whisper at first has
now snowballed into this unmanageable crescendo.
Maybe some of you paid closer attention to the voices in your head.
Maybe you are on to the fact that most of the whispers (and the glued judgements) are not even yours!
Maybe you went a step further. You deduced, "ah ha" these voices (in your head) are very familiar. But still not yours.
A mother, father, daughter, co-workers, neighbor, sister? Who can you recognize?
Or maybe they all jumbled together to make this
intricate furball that you don't see or hear anything except this intolerable indiscernible static??
Either way, you decide Not your mess to unravel.
When in Doubt, reaffirm
Some of us have not made a Beginning in a long time. So re-beginning feels uncomfortable. Maybe even unnerving.
Before you reassess your new position, first do not forget to pat your back. How many have the courage to hit "reset" and start over?
It was easier when you were 17.
But at 30? or 40? or 60? C'mon! give yourself a break now.
It takes a lot of trust in oneself. It is only natural you have Doubts. First give yourself room for that.
Then the next step of sorting out.
"What is mine? what is not mine?"
Like attracts Like.
You have started with a flickr of Doubt. But how did you end up with this Mountain ??
Like attracts like.
It becomes not so hard to attract people and situation that are more than willing to add tons to what was a flicker.
Jealousy. Feeling left behind. Competition.
Their reasons are many.
So what you do then?
Reaffirm.
Reaffirm what you want. Remember why you wanted to be here in this new place.
When in doubt, remember to reaffirm what you want.
Picture, you already Having what you want. Feel in your body, you already Having it.
To picture or to visualize, is to create in Spirit.
To feel in your body, is allowing your body to 'have' (or receive) 'it' in the Physical world.
But first acknowledge the Doubt . Considering where you are, it is after all a reasonable feeling to have.
Remember, what you resist, persists.
Next , turn the other way and.... picture what you want. Correction. Picture, what you already Have.
Feel it, already Here.
Back in the Kindergarden
There are many ways to walk your day as a born-again Beginner.
You could drudge yourself through the day. Or you could let a truck load of expectations pressure you. To become comfortable and confident in an unreasonable time. Which, had you stepped back
to look at, you would caught.
To be fair, it is unnerving to be thrown out of the comfort of an expert into the wide open space of a beginner.
Everything has to be rebuilt. From the scratch.
It is just terribly inconvenient.
On one hand we became free of all the structures that limited us. Now we get to build it all our way.
On the other hand, we have to build it all...again.
Here is another way to look at Beginning.
You could approach it with curiosity, lightness and enthusiasm of a child in a kindergarten.
Remember that space/place in your head?
That space where there was unlimited room to make mistakes.
Room to explore.
And Exploring was seen same as Learning (not painted as clueless).
Others may or may not give you this kind of space. But you could give yourself this space of lightness, curiosity, enthusiasm and exploration.
Notice, as you carry this attitude into your day. Does your day reciprocate your inner world?
Even if it is little things.
Rest
You know how much Kindergarteners love naps. Consider that for yourself too. The guilt-free version.
This is an aspect to consider for those made the leap. Especially the ones who summed up this burst of energy to make it across the chasm.
Now could you consider, Rest?
It is not uncommon to leap, land on the other side
and still keep running. Momentum does that to you.
Maybe it's time to catch your breath now.
Let go off that momentum. Relax. Rest.
Maybe even indulge yourself in a bit of a celebration. Coincidentally it's also the holidays now. Happy Holidays, by the way.
Maybe it's time to Rest. Take stock. Regroup.
The next step may come looking for you. Effortlessly.
